Therapeutic healing mirrors the tides of the ocean.

Breaking Tides Therapy

Some people live like the tide is locked in place—calm on the surface but stuck underneath. Others feel like they’re caught in constant waves that crash without warning. Therapy helps you learn how to move with the tide instead of fighting it.

Clinical Consultation

As a clinician with over 10 years’ experience working with clients who struggle with suicidality and self-harm, I have a strong foundation to offer support and consultation to other therapists who might have questions or concerns regarding the best way to approach client care.

Viola Chavez, LCSW

I hold a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Houston and a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University, with specialized training in DBT, ERP, CBT, ACT and RO-DBT. My work is grounded in evidence-based therapy, and it is also deeply informed by my belief that healing happens in the context of understanding your unique experiences and needs. I have had the privilege of working in a variety of settings, from supporting veterans at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center to helping individuals and families navigate addiction at the Council on Recovery. In each of these spaces, I’ve learned that healing is not one-size-fits-all—it’s a deeply personal journey.

I also believe in the importance of decolonizing therapy. I’m committed to providing a therapeutic environment where your cultural identity and personal history are acknowledged and valued, allowing you to explore your feelings and experiences in an open, authentic way.

I feel deeply honored to walk beside you on your journey - to be a part of that process and to witness you discover your strength, resilience, and capacity for joy.

Things falling apart is a kind of testing and also a kind of healing. We think that the point is to pass the test or to overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don’t really get solved. They come together and fall apart again. It’s just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.
